This unique piece of history is waiting for its next steward to decide to call Vervain Mill their home. Dating back to the 18th century, this historic property has four levels, perfectly situated to catch the breezes—just as it did when the sails turned at the mill to power the nearby sugar factory. Throughout the property are volcanic stone walls and ruins that now form the backdrop for attractive topical gardens and a pool and gazebo. Vervain exudes history and the sense of place of that makes Nevis such a special small island while at the same time offering life’s modern conveniences.
First (bottom) Level: Two bedrooms with ensuite baths occupy the ground level—one has a queen bed and one a set of twins, both of which open to the lawn through French doors.
Second (Main) Level: Tastefully decorated cozy kitchen with seating and dining with side pantry room.
Main Level Terrace: Off the kitchen area is a wide outdoor concrete terrace that offers wide and dramatic views of the sea and the islands beyond, including Montserrat and Redonda, and Antigua and Barbuda. Stylish canvas sails create a protected outdoor sitting area to enjoy the ambiance and seaviews.
Third (Master Bedroom) Level: Up a winding staircase, there is an open bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom and arched windows typically located in mills.
Fourth (Sitting) Level: Owners utilize top level as a sitting room because of the great views and small outdoor terrace that provides amazing views of the lands below and the sea. Also includes two day beds.
Pool: Spacious pool (13’ x 17’) with views of Nevis Peak, surrounding fields, from the plentiful sundeck.
Amenities: Screens throughout; landscape lighting and irrigation systems in place; stabilized ruins of old sugar plantation; gazebo located in garden perfect for evening cocktails. One of the last remaining preserved historic windmills on the island.
